Privacy & Security

Cortex uses memory to keep your world continuous, not to trap you inside it.

What Cortex remembers

Thoughts you keep, plans you lock, places you've decided on, proof moments you save. Anything held is visible to you and editable.

What Cortex does not remember

Passive reads, throwaway prompts, anything you didn't ask to keep. No silent background capture.

Pausing memory

Toggle memory off from /memory or /account. New things stop being held until you turn it back on.

Export & delete

Request your data or request account deletion from /account. During alpha these are fulfilled by a human within a few days.

Alpha diagnostics

Optional. Off by default. When on, safe browser context (viewport, language, user agent) attaches to signals you send.

Account security

Sign in with passkey, Google, Apple, or quiet key. No passwords stored. Sessions are scoped per device.

Prompt safety

Anything you save passes through a sanitizer. Suspicious or injection-shaped text is quarantined and never recalled until you review it.
